Q: What are the qualifications of the captain?

A: Mel has his Maritime Operator’s Certificate, Toronto Harbour license, marine VHF radio license.  He has training in Marine First-Aid and Marine Safety. Mel has been fishing on Lake Ontario and its many tributaries for over 30 years.  The goal of captain and crew is to provide a comfortable, safe and fun fishing/cruising experience.

Q:   Tell me about the boat.

A:  The REEL INN is a 43′ Bertram/Trojan International , hardtop express.  This vessel is build for comfort and safety.  It is registered with Transport Canada as a commercial passenger carrying vessel.  The spacious cockpit is equipped with fish cleaning station, wash-down pump, fighting chairs.  Accommodations include 3 piece washroom (head) fully equipped galley and dinette with a full sized refrigerator with freezer.

Q: Do you provide fishing equipment?

A:  All the latest fishing equipment and technology is provided.  This includes down-riggers, side-planers, rods and reels equipped with copper, lead core and steel flex line with all the latest lures.  Navigational and fishing electronics includes  Furuno Radar, Depthfinder and Chartplotter; Lowrance Fishfinder, Chartplotter and GPS, Garman GPS and Fish Hawk temperature gauges.

Q:  What type of fish can we expect to catch?

A:  Coho and Chinook Salmon and Rainbow trout are the most common catch.

Q:  What should I bring for the trip?

A:  Hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, refreshments, windbreaker, camera, fishing license and a cooler for transporting your catch home.  Bottled water will be provided.
